Trade marks
A trade mark is a mark that identifies and distinguishes the source of goods, used in commercial activities, of one party, such as a company or an individual.

Trade mark renewal

A registered Trade Mark is valid for ten years from the date of filing of the application. It can be renewed indefinitely for further periods of ten years.

The process

Step 1.

No later than six months before the expiry of the registration, Intellectual Property Agency will inform you that your registered trade mark is about to expire. We issue a form you can sign and return to us, if you wish us to renew your trade mark on your behalf. By signing and returning the form you automatically confirm, order and authorise Intellectual Property Agency to renew your trade mark.

Step 2.

In order for us to successfully renew your trade mark, a renewal fee and an administrative fee must be paid. Within 5 - 10 working days after we have received your signed order / renewal form, you will receive an invoice. Once the invoice is paid, in total, we will proceed with your application. In order for us to complete the renewal process without any additional charges the amount must be paid within the given period of time stated on the invoice.

Step 3.

Your trade mark is successfully renewed for another ten (10) years.

*A late request for renewal must be submitted within 6 months after expiry date, and the renewal fee plus a 25% surcharge must be paid.
*If any additional information is required, Intellectual Property Agency will contact you. Failure to submit the required information within 10 working days may result in incompletion or additional charges. In that case no refunds will be made.

If request for renewal is submitted after expiry of the grace period, you will be informed in writing that your trademark has been cancelled and removed from the Register.
